Injuring my neck at age 13 playing rugby at school in South Africa turned out to be a blessing as it was the catalyst for my future career. Following visiting a local chiropractor in our home town and experiencing a profound change in my recovery after his adjustments, converted me to becoming a regular chiropractic patient. A newly established Chiropractic programme in Durban in 1989 then gave me the opportunity to enrol in 1990 and as they say the rest is history.

Following an enjoyable but rigorous training programme I qualified in 1996 and decided to venture to the UK to seek more experience and a greater exposure to the profession. The most significant impact on my chiropractic career was discovering the Activator Methods® Technique in 2000 when Dr Arlan Fuhr came to teach for the first time in the UK. I was amazed by the research he presented and the immediate changes it had on the nervous system utilising leg length evaluations and instrument adjusting. I decided there and then to pursue learning the Activator technique and am very grateful for all the mentoring I received from Dr Fuhr and the other instructors over the years.

This was the best decision I made in my chiropractic career to date. I successfully achieved my Advanced Proficiency rating in 2003 and subsequently Activator® became my primary technique. I was honoured to be appointed as a Clinical Instructor, presenting at Activator® seminars since 2007 and have been the Regional Director of Activator® seminars in the UK for approximately 10 years. Over this time I helped train hundreds of chiropractors in the UK and Europe on the benefits of instrument adjusting using the Activator Method.

With the advent of Virtual Online training for Activator in the US, Covid and the cessation of hands on training for Activator in the UK, myself, Peter and Julien decided to look at setting up a non-profit Foundation in the UK to provide the hands on training we feel is required. We also wanted to encourage and raise funding for research into chiropractic and particularly the Activator Method and build a community of like minded health care practitioners in the UK. This led to the formation of the Axon Potential Foundation in 2023. We are looking forward to this becoming well established over the next few years and helping to build a thriving community of Activator practitioners in the UK.
