I discovered Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) in 1997 whilst still at Chiropractic College. I was immediately intrigued with its scientific approach to Chiropractic. After graduating in 1999 from Oxford College of Chiropractic, I attended my first AMCT seminar in June of the year 2000, meeting the co-founder Dr. Arlan Fuhr. Subsequently, over the next couple of years, I attended several AMCT courses to become Advanced Proficiency Rated in Activator Methods Technique.
I was invited to become an Instructor by Dr. Fuhr, along with Craig Scott Dawkins, in 2007 to teach the technique in the UK. We did this in various weekend seminar venues, including the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) and the McTimoney College of Chiropractic (MCC). We were also invited to teach at the Chiropractic College in Paris – Institut Franco-Européen de Chiropraxie (IFEC).
We have run several seminars in the UK for Activator Methods and attended three International Conferences in Arizona as well as a European Chiropractic Union Conference.
I am a member of the Royal College of Chiropractors, joining in the year 2000, and became a postgraduate trainer for the College. I have helped several students since 2004, mentoring them during their Postgraduate Registration Training year. With my experience mentoring, I assisted with the setting up of the Teesside University Chiropractic Course, sitting on the Curriculum Planning Committee from 2019–2020. To this day, I am a placement mentor for the Chiropractic students from Teesside University.
I have taught alongside my colleagues in Axon Potential Foundation since it was established in 2022. In 2024, we were invited to teach the Activator Method at The Scottish Chiropractic College in Edinburgh. Teaching alongside Craig and Julien, we spent some wonderful time enlightening a very keen group of Chiropractic students to learn the technique. This was an inspiring experience for us all.
I always love helping to share the benefits of Chiropractic, both at seminars and with PRT and undergraduates.
I have been in private practice for a quarter of a century in Sunderland, in the northeast of England, operating as Fulwell Chiropractic. Along with our two wonderful CAs, Julie and Karen, we run what we like to think is a happy, helpful, and thriving practice. In a previous life, I worked in psychiatry and mentored many students in my capacity as a community psychiatric nurse – working alongside some wonderful mentors. This gave me valuable insights into how best to encourage people, helping them be the best versions of themselves.

“We use Activator Method Chiropractic Technique as our primary adjusting technique.
We also use a specialised table called a Hi-Lo so that your lying posture is as similar as possible to your standing posture once the table has been lowered. This helps us to more accurately check your leg length and so enables us to assess your spine and extremities more effectively.
The technique system uses procedures that are able to detect mechanical and neurological problems in your spine. Using leg length analysis we are able to find out which areas of your spine require attention and those that don’t. It helps us to know when to adjust, where to adjust and when not to adjust. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it!” - From Their Website
